Duke Energy is one of the largest donors in north carolina elections
Monopoly utilities like Duke Energy rely on a steady flow of bribery to maintain their chokehold on North Carolina politics. This political power allows electric monopolies to pass legislation that makes energy unaffordable for us. Duke Energy Progress spent an average of over $4 million on political expenses per year while Duke Energy Carolinas spent an average of almost $6 million on political expenses per year from 2014 to 2024.
What is our plan?
We will elect and work with legislators who take a principled stance to refuse political contributions from electric monopolies via No Toxic Money NC.
Once legislators are free from monopoly influence, we will work with them to file bills that bring about a fair and affordable energy system.
